Airy Hill primary school held its annual sponsored walk on Friday, hoping to raise around £1,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The charity was chosen as the air ambulance responded to the crash scene when former deputy head Tony Barrett passed away in September.
Head teacher Jim Lidgley said the event was a fantastic success. He added: “We were very lucky. It was a glorious morning, all the children took part and enjoyed it.”
The two-hour walk took the pupils and accompanying family members along the Cinder Track to Hawsker, allowing them to see the view from Whitby’s viaduct and other rural scenes.
