Sleights Show committee made the decision to close the show in its 136th year, in the main due to the lack of committed volunteers to run the event on the day and join the official committee.

A meeting was held to mutually decide upon the distribution of money within the show funds. Several substantial donations have been made to local charities – Esk Valley Lifeline, Barnby Show, local Scouts, Dalewood House and Parkinson’s UK.

A commemorative seat has been placed at the sportsfield where the show was held each August. The committee would also have liked to have donated a defibrillator for the village, but the village hall declined the request to place the unit at their premises.

If anyone in the village could suggest or offer a suitable site, please get in touch with Mrs Sue Atkinson on 01947 600177. The committee wish to thank all the exhibitors, stall holders and land owners for their support over the years.
