PEOPLE are being invited to nominate police officers and police community support officers from Whitby and district for an awards scheme.
The North Yorkshire Safer Neighbourhood Awards 2011 are being run by the North Yorkshire Police Authority and recognise the positive contributions police make every day to their communities.
They are judged on the basis of personal skills, local initiatives to combat crime and the officers working relationships within their neighbourhoods.
The officers awarded the overall title of North Yorkshire’s Safer Neighbourhood Police Officer and Police Community Support Officer 2011 will be put forward for the national awarding scheme as administered by the magazine Jane’s Police Review.
Jane Kenyon, chairman of the Police Authority said. “This award scheme has run for several years now, and year after year, I and the Authority members are increasingly impressed and proud of the standards of our officers and staff who work tirelessly to do that bit extra for our communities.
“I would encourage everyone to recognise that determination and effort by nominating your local Officer and/or PCSO for the work they have undertaken and the differences they have made to make our communities safer in the last year.
“North Yorkshire Police’s Officers and staff work throughout the year without thought of being singled out but it is appropriate and an honour for the Authority to be able to pay tribute to their achievements through these awards.”
Nomination forms must be returned by Friday 6 May and are available from Whitby Police Station. or they can be downloaded from the North Yorkshire Police Authority website www.nypa.gov.uk/sna11.
