Tool thieves strike twice

Police are looking into two burglaries at the same house over the space of two weekends.

They believe the thefts from the shed of a property on Mars lane, off the A171 Guisborough Road, near Scaling Dam are linked.

They occurred between Sunday and Monday 20 and 21 October and last weekend between Saturday and Sunday.

Power tools including a compressor and generator, drills, routers, saws, as well as a mig welder and an arc welder were taken. Manufacturers including Makita, Bosch, Festool and Stihl.

Also stolen were two mountain bikes and a black and cream Honda CG125 motorbike.

PC Matt Rogers from Whitby Police said: “If you saw any suspicious activity in the Mars Lane area around the time of either of the burglaries contact police as soon as possible as you may have vital information.”He also wants to speak to anyone who has been offered matching items for sale.
