POLICE still hunting Whitby sex attacker

Police are still searching for a sex attacker who targeted a young girl in an alleyway in Whitby.

Over the weekend North Yorkshire Police said they had had a good response from the public following appeals for information.

But they say enquiries are on-going after the incident which took place between 8.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday 12 September.

A spokesperson said: “Officers have had a good response to the appeal for witnesses and information so far, but have again urged people to come forward if they can assist the investigation.”

A mobile police office has been set up on New Quay Road near to where the incident happened.

Officers revealed last week that the attack took place in Mackridges Yard, off Loggerheads Yard which runs between New Quay Road and Baxtergate after the girl, under 16, had left the Youth Shack.

A 50 strong team of officers are working on the case and liaising with the victim and her family.

A description of the man police are searching for is that he was of slim build and wearing a black hooded top.
