Police are appealing for information after a man filled his car with fuel at Sainsbury’s petrol station left without paying.

The man pulled up at Sainsbury’s petrol station on Stainsacre Lane in a black Skoda Octavia at around 10.30pm on Wednesday September 4.

He then filled his vehicle with £67.40 worth of unleaded petrol, and drove off without paying.

It appears the the theft was pre-meditated as the vehicle was displaying false number plates which had been stolen from a Vauxhall Corsa shortly before the incident.

Officers have released a CCTV image from the petrol station which shows the man filling up with petrol.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to come forward with information.
