Police appeal after meat theft at supermarket

Police want to speak to this man in relation to the theft of meat from a supermarket in Staithes.

Officers have issued the CCTV image following the alleged incident last weekend at the Co-op branch on Whitby Road in the village.

North Yorkshire Police say that at around 8.30pm on Saturday January 31 a man entered the Co-op on Whitby Road in Staithes, and stole around £50 worth of meat before leaving the store without paying.

The man they want to speak to was wearing a distinctive orange and purple quilted jacket and a flat cap and blue jeans.

Officers are appealing to anyone who recognises the man to contact them with information.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
