WHITBY Police have released CCTV images of two suspects they would like to trace after cash was stolen from a café in Robin Hood’s Bay.

At around 4.50pm on Sunday 29 July, two men entered Swell Café on Chapel Street, as closing time approached.

Once inside the men headed for the adjoining gift shop, which was unmanned at the time, and as one of the men kept watch the other man stole around £30 from the till.

PC Peter Diggle, of Whitby police, said: “It appears that this theft may have been planned by the suspects and I am hoping that someone will recognise them from the images and tell us who they are.”

It is believed that before the theft was committed one of the men used a paperback book to change the line of sight of a CCTV camera before approaching the till.

Officers are appealing to anyone who recognises the men or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch.
