The use of cocaine is on the increase in Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay.
There is a growing trend for recreational use of the class A drug which police say could lead to supply.
Inspector Andy Colbourne hopes to stop the problem before is escalates.
He said: “Certainly some of the more ‘trendy’ drugs are on the scene.
“Through stop and search the majority of people have cannabis but we are noticing that people have white powder.
“We are looking at cocaine related offences. It is not a massive problem but something that we have got.
“At the moment it is posession but that could lead to supply.”
