Police in Whitby are appealing for help in catching a thief who stole a purse containing treasured family photographs.
They have released an image of a man they would like to speak to following the theft which happened just after midday on Saturday 20 April at the Resolution Hotel in Skinner Street.
It is believed the man waited until the reception area was clear before leaning over the counter and stealing the purse, which contained around £100 in money and treasured family photographs.
The suspect is described a white, aged around 25 to 30 years old, approximately 5ft 9in tall, with brown hair. At the time he was wearing a distinctive jacket with white markings on the back and a blue cap with the letters “NY” on the front.
PC Steve Voyzey, of Whitby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The theft of the much loved family photo’s, which were in the purse, has caused great distress for the owner as they are utterly irreplaceable. If you recognise the man caught on camera or can help to return the photo’s to their rightful owner, I am urging you to come forward and contact the police straight away.”
Call Whitby police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you can help.
