The Runswick Bay rescue boat was called out on the hottest day of the year so far to rescue a couple and their dog who had all fallen unwell while out walking.
They were seen to be in difficulty at around 5.40pm on Tuesday at Claymore Beck.
Four volunteer crew members took the boat out to locate the couple and take extra drinking water .
They also called upon the coastguard and a vet to be waiting for them when they returned.
Mike Sewell, helm, said: “We arrived on the scene and found the dog to be in a distressed state. On recovering to the shore we were able, with a vet, to bring the dog to a position of recovery.”
They also offered the couple dietary advice and guidance on when not to walk a dog, particularly in very hot weather.
The couple were very grateful and made a donation towards the upkeep of the rescue boat.
