A MEMBER of Whitby’s coastguard crew is one of only seven individuals chosen to represent the rescue service at this year’s Remembrance Sunday Parade in London.
Steven Bunt, pictured above, has been a volunteer on the Whitby Coastguard rescue team for 10 years and has been personally selected by chief coastguard Rod Johnson.
Mr Bunt said: “I’m extremely honoured to have been chosen to represent Her Majesty’s Coastguard at this most important national event.
“More importantly I am grateful to have the opportunity to show my respects for our brave fallen service men and women in our armed forces and volunteer units.”
The full team that will represent Her Majesty’s Coastguard will feature seven volunteers and four full-time coastguards.
Mr Bunt added: “I will be travelling to Portland Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre where I will be doing two days of drill and marching practice.
“We travel to London on the Saturday to prepare for Sunday’s parade.
“On the Sunday morning we have a parade rehearsal with a Guard’s Drill Sergeant at Wellington Barracks near Buckingham Palace.
“We then proudly march down Whitehall to the Cenotaph for the remembrance service.”
