The Rotary Club of Whitby and District is proud to announce the dates and prizes of its annual Trolley Dash.

The Trolley Dash has been run each year for the past 12 years by the Rotary Club of Whitby and District in conjunction with the Whitby Co-operative store.

The competition takes the form of a raffle or ticket draw, which will be drawn on Monday 12 December at 2.30pm.

The Dash itself will take place at the Co-op on Sunday 18 December at 9.30am.

First prize is a three-minute dash around the Co-op store, loading as many items into a trolley as possible (excluding alcohol and white goods). These are checked through the store’s checkout and paid for by the Rotary Club, before becoming property of the winner.

Second prize is a Christmas Hamper kindly donated by the Co-op.

Profits from the Dash will be distributed to various charities supported by the Rotary Club of Whitby and District.

Last year, the winner took goods to the value of over £200 home for Christmas and in some years, the winner has chosen to donate goods to local charities to help others at Christmas.

Tickets may be bought from members of the Rotary Club and will be on sale in the Co-op today, Wednesday 9 November, Thursday 17 November, Saturday 26 November, Saturday 3 December, and Saturday 10 December.

The store asks for support for the “important local fund-raising event as this year, there are more people in difficulty than usual needing our help.”
