charity cheques worth £6500 were handed over at RAF Fylingdales.

Martin House Children’s Hospice and Macmillan in North Yorkshire each received £3250 following a series of fundraising events throughout the year such as coffee mornings, sponsored walks and bike rides, car washes, raffle draws and a golf match.

The money was raised by Serco Defence, Science & Nuclear who have two contracts at RAF Fylingdales.

Martin Hynes, Serco Contract Manager and Paul Robinson, Chairman of the Charity Committee welcomed representatives from both charities to receive the cheques on Thursday.

Both charities had provided support throughout the year by helping out at the events.

Mr Hynes said that the generosity of personnel at RAF Fylingdales never ceased to amaze him and it was thanks to this that Serco were able to present such generous amounts in times of increased economic uncertainty.
