A coastal conference is being held in Whitby later this month with local businesses being among the guest speakers.
The Whitby and District Fishing School and Parkol Marine will be speaking as will someone from the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
It is the 12th annual conference of the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Coastal Forum and it takes place on Wednesday September 17.
The forum will also be concentrating on sustainable tourism along the coast and how to make the most of the coastline to boost the economy.
Other representatives that will address the forum will be from Whitby and District Tourism Association, East Barnby Outdoor Centre and Whitby Coastal Cruises.
The conference moves locations up and down the coast each year between Saltburn and Scarborough.
This year it is being hosted by the Whitby Mission and Seafarers Centre. Members of the public are welcome to attend and the event starts at 10am.
Cllr Geoffrey Allanson, chairman of the coastal forum said: “It’s a pleasure to be organising the conference again this year.
“It’s been another busy year on the coast and we have some excellent speakers ready to update the forum on local and national matters.
“We will alos be running the afternoon activities which include a trip to sea for forum members and a walk around the old town with our expert guide Harry Collett.
“We look forward to another packed conference full of information, debate and discussion about this wonderful coastal asset we have on our doorstep.”
