RESIDENTS have raised concerns after heavy vehicles have been seen heading through Ruswarp.

Despite promising that no vehicles would travel through Ruswarp and Sneaton, vehicles associated with the York Potash development – at Doves Nest Farm – have driven through the village, instead of taking the longer A171 route.

Coun Mike Murphy said that he had been contacted by concerned residents and raised the issue with York Potash spokesperson Gareth Edmunds at Whitby Town Council’s monthly meeting on Tuesday.

In response, Mr Edmunds explained: “We changed our contractors for our site and we had some teething problems with vehicles through the village.”

He urged anyone who sees heavy vehicles passing through the village to note the name and registration plate of the vehicle, so the company can take identify the offenders.
