Road repairs (12-13 December)

A SECTION of the A171 towards Scarborough is set to be closed overnight while a £100,000 scheme of repairs takes place.

Carriageway patching works are currently being undertaken along the road using a traffic management system. However restricted road widths at Pond Hill mean the road will be closed between 9pm and 6am tonight (12 December).

The total cost of the works is estimated at £80,000 and is due to be completed early tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow evening (13 December) resurfacing of St Ann’s Staith is also set to take place, from the Swing Bridge towards Haggersgate. The Roundabout on Langbourne Road (entrance to Co-Op Car Park)will also be resurfaced.

The total cost of these works £20,000 and a spokesperson for North Yorkshire County Council’s highways department said the works are being undertaken overnight to avoid disruption in the town centre in the busy Christmas period.
