THE NEW Angel is set for a Good Friday opening after JD Wetherspoon announced delays at the Pier Road pub.
The renovated pub and hotel was scheduled to open on 12 March but a spokesperson for the pub giants said that their contractors advised them a more time was needed.
The new opening date has been set for Good Friday, which this year falls on 28 March. A spokesperson for JD Wetherspoon apologised for the delay and said that the initial date was given as the company is always keen to be transparent about opening dates.
He added: “There’s no great reason why it has been delayed, we gave the dates in good faith but it’s a big project and the builders have said that they need a little bit longer, which we are more than happy with. We want it to open looking perfect, rather than work continuing while it’s opening.”
With just over two months before the venue reopens, the recruitment process for the new pub is well underway, with 45 full and part-time jobs being created.
