Polyhalite ‘has huge demand’

York Potash has defended claims there is no demand for the polyhalite product it hopes to mine after entering into a number of agreements with fertilizer distributors and manufacturers in the UK and Europe.

The framework sales agreements set out volume commitments and a basis for cooperation between parties, in relation to entering into formal contracts closer to the time of first production.

A spokesperson for York Potash said: “The new supply agreements have been established with fertilizer manufacturers and distributors and remain confidential at this time. These agreements are in addition to York Potash’s existing marketing agreement with KEYTRADE AG to supply up to 1.75 million tonnes per annum.”
