FROM pampering your pets to picking up a paper – you can do it all at Victoria Farm Garden Centre. Emma Spencer dropped in...

WHILE there has been a few changes with the Whitby Gazette, there have also been some at Victoria Farm too.

In addition to the already extensive range of products for the garden you can also now get everything you could possibly need for your pet.

Whether it is a cute kitten or a happy hamster there is a new range of products to suit from toys, beds, leads, collars, food and medical treatments.

Mark Noble, of Victoria Farm said they took the decision to branch out after repeated requests from customers popping into the cafe and picking up goods from the garden centre.

He told the Gazette: “There is absolutely everything for dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters. Whitby does not have the best of ranges and we have been asked more and more ‘can you get this, can you get that?’.

“A lot of people don’t know we have got it until they get through the door but we have sold loads and everyone likes it.”

Also new to Victoria Farm is the stock of Whitby Gazettes that are now on the counter.

Mark said: “We get a lot of people in on Fridays and a few said we should sell the Gazette, it would be so much nicer if they could get it here so we thought ‘why not’?”

The first week Victoria Farm stocked 20 copies but has since upped that to 40 and reckons they might soon increase on that.

It is proving popular with people from the more remote villages of Aislaby and Newholm as they no longer have to travel further afield to pick up a copy of their Friday favourite.

Mark added: “We have got a board to put at the side of the road.

“I think we will get more people coming in for a Gazette and a cup of coffee.

“Once we have got them through the doors we have won.”
