THE Esk Belle III, which replaced its predecessor in July, is now also set to leave the port after the owners of Whitby Coastal Cruises decided to put the vessel up for sale.
The 60-seater vessel was part of a swap deal that saw the Big Yellow Boat, the Esk Belle II, head for pastures new in Tenby, South Wales.
Owner Bryan Clarkson, said the new vessel was brought in earlier this year to help the company through the summer but now they have decided to find a better fit for the specific needs of Whitby Harbour.
“She was brought in to do a job because the other one went so quickly,” he said. “We’re missing the other boat but she’s nice enough and she’s got us through the summer.”
The Esk Belle III was constructed in 1970 and was formerly the Queen of Cornwall, Ilfracombe Princess and the Island Cruise of Tenby, before making her way to Whitby.
In addition, Bryan also purchased the Kerrera, from Oban, which he said has adapted better to the needs of the harbour due to its manoeuvrability.
