A farm in the tiny North York Moors village of Commondale will open its gates to visitors next Sunday for people to find out first hand how food is grown and produced.
Fowl Green Farm in Commondale is taking part in the annual nationwide event organised by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming from 11am to 3pm.
Robin Asquith, farm manager at Fowl Green Farm: “My team and I are really looking forward to welcoming everyone and showing them around the farm.
“During your visit to The Hayshed Experience farm you will discover how we rear highland cattle, sheep and pigs to produce top quality meat to sell in our farm shop.
“ Come and meet our herd of highland cows, see them being groomed ready for showing at agricultural shows.
“There will be a sheep shearer demonstrating how to shear sheep and then our own team of wool spinners will be turning the sheep fleeces in to woollen garments.
“Come and look around our garden and see for yourself how we grow fruit and vegetables from seeds to sell in the farm shop.”
Fowl Green Farm is in Upland Level Stewardship which means the farm land is managed with wildlife in mind.
