A luxury hotel outside Whitby is celebrating after it was chosen as the best hotel in Yorkshire at a tourism awards ceremony.
The Raithwaite Estate has been awarded “Hotel of the Year 2014” in the Visit York Tourism Awards.
Claire Jones, Estate Hotel Manager at the Raithwaite Estate, said, “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award. Everyone has worked incredibly hard during the past year to make the Estate one of the best places to stay in England and this award is a testament to our team’s efforts.”
Held at The National Railway Museum on 8 May 2014, the award ceremony sought to find the ‘best of the best’ amongst York’s tourism businesses.
Raithwaite Estate is set within 100 acres of woodland near Sandsend and won against strong contenders such as: Best Western York Pavilion Country House Hotel; The National Trust’s Middlethorpe Hall & Spa; Novotel York; and The Parsonage Hotel & Spa.
Winners of the Visit York Tourism Awards will now go forward to the regional White Rose Awards and national Visit England Awards for Excellence.
York welcomes seven million visitors each yearand the awards, which are now in their seventeenth year, honour local businesses for their excellence in the tourism sector.
