A local market is going to be one of the biggest new events at this year’s Regatta.
It is set to feature 40 stands in a temporary marquee selling food produce, crafts and gifts from local traders on the Saturday and Sunday of Regatta weekend.
There is also going to be space set aside outside of the marquee, on Tucker’s field, for individuals or groups to set up their own tables with items to sell and there will also be a seating area for people to consume food and drinks next to a stage which will be used for live music.
The event is being organised by Rodney Nattriss from the Regatta committee in a bid to keep people on the West Cliff throughout the weekend and get more local traders involved in the event.
He told the Gazette: “At one of the meetings somebody said about doing something differentand I came up with the idea having done the town and country fairs before.”
If anyone would like to apply for a stall, costing £35 per stall, per day, contact him stating what you intend to sell via firstname.lastname@example.org or 07468433025.
Mr Nattriss is also going to be running a dog show with one section particularly for pedigree dog and another with novelty classes such as best rescue dog, waggiest tail and veteran dog.
In the pedigree class there are sections for puppy, sporting, non-sporting, pedigree open and veteran for over sevens.
