LIVESTOCK farmers can learn how to get more out of grassland at an evening of presentations being held near Whitby later this month.

It is about adopting best practice soil and sward management.

“Bottom Up Grass Production” from the Grassright Group features talks by representatives from OPICO, GrowHow and Limagrain UK.

They will be covering the benefits of removing soil compaction to improve soil structure, ensuring optimal use of nutrients from all sources to benefit grass growth, and the factors to consider when selecting an appropriate grass seed mixture.

The event being held on Tuesday 12 February at the Falcon Inn on the Whitby to Scarborough Road is being hosted by local OPICO machinery dealer Russell Group Agriculture and starts at 7pm with supper provided.

Farmers wishing to attend are asked to register for the event by contacting Graham Kay of Russells on 07506 595957 or emailing gkay@chriskayandson.co.uk by Monday.

More information can be found about the Grassright Group and how to improve the productivity of grassland by visiting the website www.grassright.co.uk.
