The youth hostel at Boggle Hole, near Robin Hood’s Bay, has been awarded a £165,000 grant to help secure its future.

Cash has come from the Coastal Communities Fund and will be used to replace a dilapidated annexe and create a new classroom and provide for a refreshed dining, café and reception area.

Caroline White, chief executive of the Youth Hostel Association, said: “Not to proceed with the project would result in the closure of the annexe, halving the number of beds at this hostel. The development of this iconic site will directly boost tourism and the local economy, ensuing this iconic site remains open for future generations to enjoy.”
