Financial advisor goes it alone

A FINANCIAL advisor who worked for Bradford and Bingley for 23 years has decided to set up his own business.

Rob Matthews took the plunge in September so he could give clients a better service and it has proved to be a calculated decision.

He is now a member of the St James’s Place Partnership, an advisory channel for the St James’s Place Wealth Management group.

Working from his home in Port Mulgrave Rob gives advice on money issues from mortgages, to budget planning, to savings and investments to financing residential care in the comfort of the client’s home.

If he doesn’t have the expertise for the situation he can call upon a colleague from the St James’s Place Partnership who does.

He said: “The bank became quite an intense selling environment. They weren’t concerned about giving customers a service or value. It was about selling a product.

“I like to keep contact and build relationships with clients and this gives me time to do that.

“It is scary setting up alone in that you try and work two months in advance from a salary point of view but apart from that it is a much better deal all round.”

Rob’s advice and recommendations are free and he can be contacted on 01947 841226/07813124067 or rob.matthew@sjpp.co.uk
