THE newly-christened Whitby Rose left Parkol Marine Engineering on Tuesday.

The purple and orange colours of Endeavour have been replaced with ElectCatch’s trademark red and white paintwork.

In adopting the name Whitby Rose, skipper Howard Locker has paid homage to his father Alf. His father’s vessel, named Whitby Rose, had been launched on 12 May 1957, the same day Howard and his twin sister Hazel were born.

An unusual new emblem also adorns the bow of the boat. Iggle Piggle, a character from the children’s programme In the Night Garden, has been painted on to the front of Whitby Rose. The character is a favourite of co-owner Craig Locker’s one-year-old son Reggie.
