AN OIL and fuel company is asking Whitby residents to help name a new fleet of tankers.
F. Peart & Co is a key distributor of heating oils and fuels across the region and has a series of prizes to give away to individuals and schools who come up with the best names for their new vehicles.
Business manager Laura Jackson said: “Following in the footsteps of Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, we are looking to name our new fleet of oil tankers and we are appealing to the local public and school children to help us do this.
“The public has the opportunity to name one tanker and local schools will have the opportunity to name the remaining seven.
“The eight winning names will then be printed on to the tankers permanently and these will be seen driving across the north east as we deliver oil to our customers.”
As well as the naming of the tankers, there are a series of prizes up for grabs - the public winner will receive an Xbox Kinect 360 and in the schools competition there will be an overall prize for the best name, which will be a brand new laptop.
Six runner-up schools will also receive a £50 book token.
For further information and to enter the competition, the public should visit www.fpeart.co.uk/nameatanker, while schools should visit www.fpeart.co.uk/nameatankerschool
