YORKSHIRE Water is celebrating after being awarded the prestigious Carbon Trust Standard in recognition of its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.
The independently-assessed quality award, given by the Carbon Trust, is widely considered as the leading endorsement of organisational carbon footprint reduction.
It certifies that organisations have reduced their carbon emissions and demonstrated a strong commitment to making further reductions year-on-year.
Ben Roche, Yorkshire Water’s Manager of Energy and Carbon, said: “We are delighted to have our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint independently recognised and verified.
“The rigorous process we undertook to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard shows our commitment to looking after our environment.
“And this is just the start. “We have reduced our carbon in absolute terms each year for the last three years and will have to be reassessed in two years’ time in order to maintain our certification.”
The Carbon Trust Standard is considered the benchmark in carbon reporting.
