Success crewmembers show off their exotic catch

Success crewmembers show off their exotic catch

WHILE enduring wintry storms recently crewmembers on board the trawler Success met a tropical visitor to our waters.

While hauling their nets they discovered a sunfish, which usually lives in warmer southern waters.

The species is pelagic and swims at depths of up to 600m, so when spotted near the surface, animals such as this are usually already close to death.

Skipper Andrew Leadley posted the image on to Success Whitby’s Facebook page, where he often posts images and gives updates on life as a North Sea fisherman.
