Castleton School have launched a School Bank with North Yorkshire Credit Union, in order to encourage children to think about money and saving for the future.
Most of the children have opened up accounts, on which they currently receive 3% interest on their savings. They can save as much or as little as they like and bring money in every week or just occasionally.
Two representatives from Yorkshire Coast Homes visited the school to teach the children about the importance of good finances, before depositing £1 into each of the accounts which had been opened.
Thanks to Hazel Percival and Barbara Lynas of the Credit Union for their help in getting the School Bank up and running.
