THE annual service paying tribute to seafarer Captain Cook takes place on Sunday.
The Bishop of Whitby, Dr Martin Warner will lead the service at St Mary’s Church from 11.15pm.
It will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the statue at 1.15pm.
As they have in previous years Marske Fisherman’s Choir will be taking part and East Whitby School.
The annual event is attended by local dignitaries from the area and is organised by the Whitby and District Tourism Association on behalf of the Captain Cook Tourism Association.
Harry Collett from WDTA said: “It is an open invitation and we get people from all over the world - New Zealand, Australia and Canada.”
