Buffs boost charity funds

members of a Whitby society have boosted the funds of a first aid charity in the town, thanks to the roaring success of their social nights.

The social members of Whitby’s Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB) have made a presentation of £944 to the Whitby St John Ambulance Service.

The Buffs as they are known, hold a monthly social evening in their Lodge Room at Foresters Court and nominate a charity at the beginning of each year.

Funds are raised during the year by way of raffles and other social activities in the Lodge Room.

St John Ambulance was chosen for the year of 2012.

The St John Ambulance were represented at the presentation by superintendent Tracy Braithwaite, sergeant Sandra Roe and St John Ambulance member Shaun Purvis.

The cheque was presented to superintendent Tracy Braithwaite by social member Vic Wilson.

The Buffs welcome enquiries from any male over the age of 18 years, who think they would be of benefit to the order.
