Years three and four pupils from Whitby’s Airy Hill School have been sent Blue Peter badges for their creative endeavours.

For three sessions before the Christmas Fair, the pupils – who attend an art club run by teacher Janet Savage and teaching assistant Roseanne Estill – worked hard making crafts to sell at the fair and made a profit of £80 towards school funds.

They all wrote a letter to TV show Blue Peter, applying for a blue badge for their fundraising efforts.

Mrs Savage took a number of photos of the children making and selling the crafts , which was sent in with their application.

The youngsters have just received their badges, along with a letter.

“The children are delighted,” Mrs Savage added.
