NORTH Yorkshire County Council’s adoption service has been graded outstanding in all areas - the only authority in the country to receive such an accolade.
It was judged by Ofsted under a new and tougher set of standards which measure outcomes for children rather than organisational processes.
Ofsted praised strong and clear leadership, effective monitoring of the service, noticed children do not experience undue delay and go on to enjoy successful and fulfilling lives with their adoptive families.
Coun Carl Les, NYCC’s executive member for Children’s Social Care, said: “We are delighted with the inspectors’ findings and feel this accolade is richly deserved.
“We are very proud that children placed for adoption in North Yorkshire thrive and are given the best chance to achieve their potential in life- which is the right of every child.”
