A FORMER Whitby lass who joined the RAF will be taking part in the gruelling Great North Run next weekend.
Adele Johnston, whose parents Helen and Keith own Skelder Hill Farm, is based at RAF High Wycombe as a personal administrator and is doing the run in aid of the Help for Heroes charity.
It will be the second time she has run it and hopes to beat her time from five years ago which was two hours and twenty minutes.
Adele has been in training doing six mile runs a couple of times a week and a run of up to ten miles once a week.
She said: “I did it about five years ago for charity in two hours, twenty minutes. Hopefully I will beat that but mainly I just want to complete it, I am older now.
“Help for Heroes is a charity close to us. Andrew Found was married to my cousin and that is why I am hoping that local people support me and they feel like they are making a difference.
“You know what goes on but never do you think what happened to Andrew will happen to you.”
