WHITBY's marina building has been delayed by five weeks because of the bad weather over Christmas.
In a letter to local councillors, Scarborough Borough Council said the delay had been caused by the recent snow that had stopped work from progressing.
The skeleton of the building, which is due to open this summer, is up but the delay will affect the facilities at the site.
This setback was attacked by Whitby Town councillor Ian Havelock at the council's last meeting.
He said: "I don't think this delay is acceptable.
"Were there any penalty clauses put in the building contract? Yes, there has been bad weather but I have seen no-one working over weekends to make up the time.
"The building will open and will have portable toilets.
"Not good enough."
