DOZENS of events and activities are taking place across the weekend as goths from around the world flock to Whitby.
From weddings to book signings, teddies to Darth Vader it will all being going off in the town.
And once again there will be film cameras present – last year it was BBC2’s Culture Show.
This time around it is London-based Tigerlily Films which will be shooting footage for a 90-minute documentary on goth culture.
On Saturday a gothic wedding will be held at Dunsley Hall featuring a lavish ceremony.
Robert Gardner and Debra Whitehead will be tying the knot in full gothic attire, and will be joined by their guests who will also be carrying on the theme.
Author Paul Chapman will be launching his book, Birth of a Legend, at the Royal Hotel tomorrow from noon until 3pm.
The book is a study of Bram Stoker, Count Dracula and Whitby and Paul will be signing copies of the book.
Accompanied by many and varied characters from the six Star Wars Episodes, Darth Vader and his troops will also be in town as they patrol the streets near the Shambles in Market Place, raising money for the NSPCC, Make-A-Wish and Medi-Cinema.
Always a big draw with the crowds, people have an opportunity to have a photo taken with the stars of the most successful film franchise of all time.
Throughout the weekend a number of fund-raising events will be held to raise money for a memorial bench to murdered goth Sophie Lancaster.
A specially created teddy bear will be raffled at Sexy Sunday at the Met after being created by bear artist Kathryn Vardy, who was deeply touched by Sophie’s tragic story.
The bear is called Sophie, she is made of mohair and has been scissor sculpted and hand shaded to add more character.
She is wearing a little headdress of black and red feathers, black diamantes and a black and red bow, this is stitched on so it can’t fall off.
She is also wearing a black knitted shawl which is fastened with a pretty red enamel brooch and is valued at £160 and it is hoped double that will be raised.
A minute’s silence for Sophie will also be observed before a Whitby Gazette side takes on a goth team up at the Turnbull Ground on Sunday at 2pm.
A collection during the game will raise money for St Catherine’s Whitby Day Hospice.
There is also a raffle at the match, and throughout the weekend, with various fantastic goth-related prizes which will also raise money for the hospice.
Money will also be raised for Whitby Dog Rescue during the weekend thanks to money pledged when weekend wristbands are collected.
