NETBALL players are getting ready to pit themselves against a team of teachers in order to raise money for a Whitby schoolgirl who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis.
Ladies from Whitby Netball Club will take on a team made up of teachers and staff from Eskdale, Caedmon and Whitby Community College.

The ladies from the Netball Club meet every Thursday and had wanted to do something for charity for the past few months.

13-year-old Laura Shaw from Whitby has suffered from Cystic Fibrosis since birth and Laura's Fund which was set up by her parents Tracy and Kevin aims to raise £10,000 in order to buy a vest airway clearance system that will enable Laura to breathe more easily and comfortably.

Organiser, Michelle Booth said: “We’d wanted to do something for charity and then a couple of weeks later, Laura’s story appeared front page in the Whitby Gazette, which was perfect.”

The game will take place at Caedmon School on Friday 16 May at 6pm.
