A STUNNING aerial view of Whitby has been presented to Whitby Pavilion to celebrate its recent refurbishment.
The photograph was taken by local photographer Mike Shaw who gave it to the Friends of Whitby Pavilion.
The 56in by 39in stretched canvas print shows the town on a sunny day from the West Cliff and stretching down the harbour.
The theatre, which was completed in 1880 and the Pavilion built in 1989, stand proudly side by side at the front of the photograph.
The gift from the Friends is the latest in a series of donations made to celebrate the refurbishment of the theatre foyer and new entrance and the group hopes it will bring much pleasure for many years to come.
Mike and Tricia Shaw, of the Flowergate Gallery, presented the photograph to members of the Friends of Whitby Pavilion, along with representatives from Scarborough Council and various people who work in the Pavilion.
Chairman of the Friends, Les Scott, said: “We are grateful we are able to make this practical expression of our support to Whitby Pavilion.
“The picture will be hung in the newly-refurbished foyer to be enjoyed by people for a very long time.
“It truly is magnificent and I thank the Flowergate Gallery for everything they have done.”
