THIS dramatic picture shows by Dave Carter shows cabin cruiser the Last Call seconds before the boat capsized, killing three people.
The 22ft boat overturned in horrendous conditions 100 yards from the entrance to Whitby Harbour.

Heroic rescuers were left devastated after doing all they could to save Andrew Carrick (45), his partner Jill Russell (48) and his brother John Carrick (36).

The Carrick brothers were washed overboard first and were rescued by Whitby Lifeboat crew who battled 16ft waves and gale force winds to pull the pair from the water. They both died in hospital.

Ms Russell made a frantic 999 call as her partner and his brother were washed away. She was plucked from the sea by the RAF Sea King helicopter, but died shortly after.

If you knw Andrew or John Carrick or Jill Russell and want to pay tribute to them, or if you simply want to pay your respects, you can leave a message attached to this story.

I used to live in Ruswarp and Whitby and was brought up watching the sea in all its seasons and weathers. How I wish we could turn back the clock and I am sure their relatives feel just the same. As an adult, I love visiting my hometown and will now always say a quiet word in their memory and a thank you to our brave rescue personnel.

I worked with Jill Russell many years ago, she was a lovely girl and I was shocked and saddened to read of the tragedy that took her life and the lives of her partner and his brother. Thoughts go out to all family and friends of the deceased.
