WHITBY Gazette website users have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a park and ride scheme on land opposite Cross Butts Farm.
The plan was rejected by North York Moors National Park planning committee members and saw the project to create a 400 space car park off the A171 scrapped.

Of those who voted at www.whitbygazette.co.uk 76% said they were in favour of the scheme, 19% against and 4% didn't mind.

The park and ride plan was put forward to ease the congestion suffered in Whitby at peak times, such as the Bank Holiday Weekend last week. It is now in limbo and North Yorkshire County Council states it is the only site it will consider.

The new vote on the Whitby Gazette website is: Do you agree with DIY giant Homebase opening a store in Whitby?

You can vote on the right of this page.
