THE search for a Whitby woman who went missing from a Scarborough Hospital more than a week ago is still continuing although it has been scaled down.
Janet Cowley (46) has not been seen since 8.30pm on Wednesday 1 October when she disappeared from Cross Lane Hospital.
Police are still actively involved in searching for Janet Cowley and would like the public to report any possible sightings of h
er to Scarborough CID.
Detective Inspector Tony Quinn told the Gazette they are searching undergrowth in the Scalby Mills area to see if there is any more they need to do.
He added searches have been scaled down and despite the intensive searching they have carried out they have still not found Mrs Cowley.
Earlier this week officers were investigating one possible sighting of a woman matching her description in North Cliff Avenue in Scarborough and were hoping to be able to scrutinise CCTV footage from the area at the time.
Ms Cowley is white, of thin build, with brown eyes and short dark brown hair. She is believed to be wearing light grey jogging bottoms, a light coloured top and white training shoes.
The search has involved the coastguard and Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team and a police helicopter.
It has included specialist underwater rescue units searching lakes in Peasholm Park and Northstead Manor Gardens as well as North Bay and the golf course.
