A PLAN to build 60 flats at Chubb Hill in Whitby has been given the green light by Scarborough Council.
Planning committee members backed the plans to build two buildings comprising of 12 and 48 flats respectively on the site of the old Functional English Language School.

The committee heard representations from David Collins, applicants Kebbell Developments’ agent and neighbour Ada Myers, who spoke against it.

After listening to the arguments the councillors approved the plans with 29 conditions relating to distance from other buildings, landscaping and surveys which must be carried out before the build can start.

Members welcomed the design and suggested it would fit well in the site. The decision has to be ratified by the cabinet later this month.
