YOUNGSTERS from the Whitby area can now take advantage of free homework clubs after school.
New study support sessions, which are supported by North Yorkshire County Council’s extended schools service, aim to provide youngsters with computer access and staff help to aid them with homework in addition to in-school opportunities.

The new s
essions are being held at Whitby Library and the new youth centre in New Quay Road, formally known as Rafters.

Starting this Tuesday, Whitby Library will host a study support session on Tuesdays from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, offering facilities including access to the internet and word processing, online resources, free print-outs (for homework only) and refreshments.

Starting on 20 May, the newly refurbished youth centre in Whitby will host support sessions on Tuesdays from 4pm to 6.45pm and Wednesdays from 4pm to 6.45pm (sixth formers only). The centre will offer facilities including free internet access, a wide screen television, lounge, games and resources, people to talk to and information on activities and events run by the 4Youth Service and others.

These new sessions are in addition to sessions already available at Eskdale School (Thursdays 3.30pm to 4.30pm), Caedmon School (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 3.30pm to 5pm) and the Learning Centre at Whitby Community College (Mondays and Tuesdays 8.30am to 8.30pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays 8.30am to 5pm and Fridays 8.30am to 3.30pm).

All sessions held at the college are term-time only.
