YOUNGSTERS at East Whitby Primary School recently took part in their own reworking of Jack and the Beanstalk which was presented as a musical with never-before-seen characters.
Here, Danny Buck and Emily Eynon give their review of the production as well as giving a peak behind the scenes.
"Children in East Whitby Primary School's years five and six have been working on a fabulous play called Jack! – a musical pantomime.
All last term, the actors have been using their spare time and music lessons to learn their words and practice on stage for three shows in front of the school and their families in the week before Easter.
They have had a lot of fun, as well as finding out what it is like to perform in front of people.
All the children had different jobs to do as well as acting and singing there was the backstage crew.
These children designed and made all the scenery and props. They looked great.
Children operated the lights, sound and curtains for the performances as well as printing posters to advertise the pantomime around school.
Over 450 people saw Jack! at three shows.
Students from Eskdale School came to see the pantomime and said: "It was great fun to watch."
The children all worked really very hard and the audiences really enjoyed the show – well done everyone."
