HEARTBEAT fans can look forward to a new series of the hit ITV soap filmed in and around the Whitby area returning to their screens this Sunday.
The show starts at 8pm on ITV1 and in the first episode Sgt Miller (John Duttine) is driving home through the moors on a dark windy night when he notices a stationary car in the middle of the road with a crumpled figure lying nearby.

As he gets out to help, the man springs to his feet and points a gun at Miller.

And when the film crew from the hit show were in Sleights, they were spotted by Whitby Gazette photographer Dom Shaw.

A spokeswoman for the series said the sequence being filmed was of two actors who play police officers on watch for an antiques dealer who was suspected of dealing in stolen goods.

They were Clare Wille who takes the part of DS Rachel Dawson and Steven Blakeley who plays PC Younger.

They were watching the antiques dealer Brigstock, played by Fred Ridgeway, drive away in his car.

The episode is part of the new series 18.
