HAVE a heart this Valentine's weekend and help raise money for a piece of medical equipment for a toddler with cystic fibrosis.
Three-year-old Vinny Evans suffers from a build-up of mucus in his lungs, making breathing very difficult.
Following the Gazette’s story about Vinny’s plight last month, his parents have been inundated with calls from generous well-wishers wanting
to help in their bid to buy a £10,000 Vest Airway Clearance System which will help him breathe.
And proceeds from Robin Hood’s Bay Tourism Association’s Valentine’s Dance on Friday will be pledged to the fund – the event takes place between 8pm to midnight at Fylingdales Village Hall
Steve Phillips and the Rough Diamonds will be playing and tickets cost £8 for adults and £5 for under 16s.
To book tickets call (01947) 880589.
Joseph Hughes, of Vinny’s fund-raising committee, said: “We are hoping to raise lots of money, not only through ticket sales but also with our raffle.”
Vinny’s parents Jonathan Evans (39) and Lucy Jones (25) were delighted with Fyling Hall School teacher Bernie Weekes, who instead of gifts for his 60th birthday asked for donations to Vinny’s fund – as a result £450 was raised.
Mr Hughes said on behalf of the couple: “We are so grateful and people have been so generous pledging money and donations for the raffle. We have other fund-raising events in the pipeline.”
Donations can be made to Vinny’s Fund online at www.vinnysfund.com or at NatWest Bank in Baxtergate to Vinny Evans Chest Clearance Vest Fund.
