Egton brothers are sentenced for 10 years of harassment
TWO Egton brothers escaped jail at York Crown Court yesterday for harassing a woman for more than 10 years.
Ian Cornforth (43) and his brother Thomas (38) both of High Street, were given an indefinite restraining order against Marjorie McQue.
They were also ordered to do 300 hours of unpaid work.
The charge of harassment related to a period spanning ten years.
Their campaign included following their victim in her car, slashing her tyres on numerous ocassions, and making phone calls to her home and her place of work.
PC Keith Carrick said it was the worst case of harassment he has ever experienced in over 20 years of policing.
Mrs McQue was too frightened to go out because she was afraid of what the Cornforths might do.
